Skype running on Android

Skype calling is now available as a free download on Android-based devices. Skype has released Android  smartphones application which enables make free calls to other Skype accounts, mobile phones or landlines. Also you can send and receive text messages, one-to-one or with a group. The Android app works over WiFi, 3G, EDGE and GPRS. Skype for Android can be downloaded only to those who are running Android 2.1 or above. You can only make calls over WiFi in the United States. Elsewhere around the world, users can place calls over both Wi-Fi and 3G. You can download it from Android Market or skype.com/m. Skype is now available on three mobile platforms Android, iOS and Symbian.

The company also said that it has tested on several devices, but it can't guarantee full functionality or compatibility on other devices and plans to address those app issues in the future.
