Section command in MS word works with the option Page Setup, Header and Footer, Page Number, Page Border.
While we select or change any of the above option the changes will applied to the whole pages in the document. e.g. Portrait option(page orientation) , will set all pages in Portrait. If want to setup first page as Landscape and rest of the pages as Portrait, we need to keep first page as a section and rest of the pages as other section. Here go the need of Section command
To access Section
Insert -> Break -> Section break --> continuous
strong>Section break</strong>
Next page: Inserts a section break at the cursor point and force the lines to next page as well as it turned as new section. Now the document has 2 section. Now we can do different format for each section.

Continuous: Inserts a section break at the cursor point and doesn't force the lines to next page. Used for column starts in same page.
Even page: Inserts a section break and section start on the next even-numbered page. If the section break falls on an even-numbered page, it leaves the next odd-numbered page blank.
Odd page: Inserts a section break and section start on the next odd-numbered page. If the section break falls on an odd-numbered page, it leaves the next even-numbered page blank.
Page Break
Page break: Inserts a manual page break at the cursor point. This force the lines move to next page.
Column break: Inserts a column break at the cursor point. (see column)
Text wrapping break: Ends the current line and forces the text to continue below a picture, table, or other item.
